Borough Yards continues emergence as new London cultural hotspot with arrival of 12 new brands

  • Shopping, restaurant, office and leisure district in London Bridge welcomes 12 UK and global brands
  • 140,000 sq.ft regeneration project already counts The Office Group, Everyman Cinema, Alain Ducasse and Barrafina as occupiers
  • The remainder of the development will open to the public to create a new commercial and pedestrian zone connecting Borough market to the Southbank

South London’s Borough Yards has continued its emergence as one of the capital’s leading mixed-use districts with the arrival of 12 new brands.

The 140,000 sq ft regeneration project – providing new offices, a cinema, shops and restaurants next door to the iconic Borough Market – will see leading beauty, food, fashion and homeware operators open their doors.

Their arrival coincides with the opening of the development’s next phase – scheduled for June 22nd – where the revived Victorian streets of Stoney Street, Clink Street and Bank End will be connected, creating a new pedestrian zone behind Borough Market. It will also enable visitors to walk through the entire site for the first time.

The historic streets have been reactivated alongside disused viaducts, warehouses and industrial buildings which date back to the 19th century, by architecture studio SPPARC – with a number of prestigious awards following as a result, including from the Royal Institute of British Architecture last month.

The mixture of UK and international brands will join existing occupiers such as Everyman Cinema, The Office Group, Brother Marcus, Alain Ducasse, Mondo Beer & Pizza, Burger & Beyond, Bar Daskal, Barrafina, Parillian and Vinoteca, at Borough Yards.

With 16 million visitors passing through London Bridge every day, but the being area being short of a day-to-night integrated shopping, restaurant and leisure district, Borough Yards is fast emerging as the go-to cultural spots in this area of the capital.

It is being delivered by investor and developer MARK, which has a €10bn portfolio across Europe’s leading cities and a strong reputation for delivering some of London’s most successful regeneration projects, including Mayfair’s Burlington Arcade – a hallmark of London luxury retail. It is currently restoring the iconic The Whiteley department store into a prime residential, retail and hotel development as part of a £3bn regeneration of Queensway Parade in Bayswater.

The pedestrian opening at Borough Yards – June 22nd – is being marked with a free event for the public, where visitors can enjoy a range of activities, food and products from new and existing tenants. Londoners will also be able to view Wimbledon there in July via a live screening, where there will be food and drinks stalls. The area also plans to erect seasonal markets in the near future.
