Borough Yards has signed 5 new independent retailers to join its burgeoning culinary and cultural neighbourhood in Southwark.
The brands, which have a shared focus on sustainability, social impact and high-quality design, include:
- Natural, vegan and sustainable skincare brand Sknfed.
- Handmade décor producer, La Lune London, following its success in Camden Market.
- Handmade jewellery designer Linnet Jewellery, which has a popular Etsy shop and a unit on Portobello Road.
- Affordable eye wear brand Pop Specs.
- Ethical slow fashion brand and social enterprise Handmade Stories.
The new arrivals will be located on Stonecutters Lane – the latest and final stage of the Borough Yards transformation in London Bridge – a new curated marketplace of emerging independent and ethical brands. Borough Yards will mark the first physical standalone store in the UK for a number of the incoming retailers.
These latest brands will complement the growing retail offer at Borough Yards, which caters to the 3.2m workers and residents on the doorstep, as well as the 25 million visitors to the area each year. These include skincare brand Malin + Goetz, artisan chocolatier Le Chocolat Alain Ducasse and Japanese handicraft knife brand Kitchen Provisions. Borough Yards is also home to popular bars and restaurants, such as Bancone, Barrafina, Akara, Parrillan and Brother Marcus as well as London Bridge’s first cinema, Everyman Cinema.
Lily Lin, Managing Director at MARK, the developer behind Borough Yards, said, “Stonecutters Lane is the final piece of the jigsaw at Borough Yards, and will add another dimension to the existing mix of leisure, culture and shopping. Stonecutter’s Lane will become a launch pad for emerging independent and artisan retailers that will see significant value in being amongst the area’s creative week-round community and having a brand presence in such a high footfall, high spend area.”
Elena Brook-Hart Rodriguez, founder of Handmade Stories, said, “When selecting a location for our new physical store, Borough Yards was our first choice due to their commitment to creating a unique hub for independent businesses to thrive in and in a strategic location that mixes wondering tourists with a local crowd.”
Borough Yards is located a two-minute walk from London Bridge station and is home to 50 premium shops, restaurants, bars, and cultural experiences. Located within restored Victorian railway arches, Borough Yards connects the South Bank and Tate Modern to London Bridge.
Stonecutters Lane at Borough Yards will open on 11 April. Bruce Gillingham Pollard and CBRE are the commercial leasing agents on behalf of MARK. MARK is also working with Lone Design Club to organise pop-ups and event programming.
